THEATER MUSIC
The
first five sets of music were written for Ray Bradbury’s
Pandemonium Theatre Company in Pasadena, California (specifically, South
Pasadena). Due to budgetary constraints, these fine tunes were never
given the opportunity of a live performance. Typically, eighteen to
twenty days before the music was needed, I received a script in the
mail. Mr. Bradbury occasionally would note in the stage direction where
music might be appropriate, but no other specifics – such as, importantly,
the length of the snippet – were provided. The venue for the
performances, the Frement Centre Theatre in Pasadena (that is, South Pasadena), is a former mortuary, a key factor in the stylistic direction some of the tunes took.

Is this theater music or chamber music? Hmm, since it isn’t here, I guess it’s over in Chamber Music. |
