Best of the Bazaar sound collages (1995-2006) From the “Kalvos & Damian’s New Music Bazaar” weekly radio program. Each Besto
consists of “listenable snippets” transformed into newly
composed collages of interview comments and music from five
consecutive shows. The attentive
listener (ha) will discern recurring thematic material. This link to the Bazaar’s archived website contains Bestos 1 through
83. No. 84, the special Cooler in the Shade version, will be there soon. | Incubus 4 overdubbed recorders (1974) Part
of a large multimedia piece called “Passage” that students
and faculty of San Francisco State University performed underneath and
on the Golden Gate Bridge to memorialize the 500 persons who had (by
late 1974) jumped off the bridge. (Phew, I don’t get any more
pensive than this!) | Totalitoccata (2007) Written
for a Vox Novus 60×60 concert in Munich whose extra
cheery theme was “Oppression & Totalitarianism.” |
Circe four-track tape (1975) Written a few months after Incubus, Circe shares that tune’s melancholy. It also features the only recorded documentation of my harmolin, an
autoharp-like fretless instrument that was subsequently purloined from
a
Columbus, Ohio apartment. Also featured are Killer and Astrosynarce, The
Miracle Synthesizer, played by Dennis Báthory-Kitsz and myself.
For no money. | Lois (2006) Written
for a 2006 Vox Novus 60×60 composition competition (the piece could be
no longer than sixty seconds). The original, lengthier text, with
documentary photograph, is here. | des fourmis dans mes pantalons Written for a 2008 Vox Novus 60×60 competition. For the record, I swiped the first fifty-eight seconds from The Charlie Jump,
an incidental tune for Ray Bradbury’s “Green Town.”
The final second comes from another source somewhere on this page.(2008) |
