Vermont Chess Camp! The Song!

During the 2007 Camp, we didn't have time to learn "Vermont Chess Camp!". So here it is, in time for next year. Learn it and be ready to sing it out!

"Vermont Chess Camp!" is a round. There are two good melodies, and three comment lines. First, the words:

Part One, the first melody.

Green Mountains are our home, greenest of the green!
Chess playing is our game, tough but never mean!
Is it time to sacrifice? No! We think hard and we think twice!
Playing hard the Game of Kings! Vermont Chess Camp!

Part Two, the first commentary.

Think hard, think twice!
Think hard, think twice! Think hard, think twice!
Think hard, think twice!
Think hard, think twice! Think hard, think twice!

Now that was easy! Here's Part Three, a real tongue-twister.

King, Queen, Bishop, Knight, Rook, Pawn. We defend, we're never gone!
Seldom hasty, always brave. Having fun and making waves.
Ready to accept advice while we think hard and we think twice!
Starting every day at dawn with King, Queen, Bishop, Knight, Rook, Pawn.

Part Four is the second commentary, fast but easy.

One, two, three, four... Game of Kings! Vermont Chess Camp!
One, two, three, four... Game of Kings! Vermont Chess Camp!
One, two, three, four... Game of Kings! Vermont Chess Camp!
One, two, three, four... Game of Kings! Vermont Chess Camp!

Not so bad. And Part Five is the last commentary.

Yo! (clap...) Check-mate! Yo! (clap...) Check-mate!
Yo! (clap...) Check-mate! Yo! (clap...) Check-mate!
Yo! (clap...) Check-mate! Yo! (clap...) Check-mate!
Yo! (clap...) Check-mate! Yo! (clap...) Check-mate! Yeah!

And there you have it. I'll teach you the song, but if you're a musician, you can print the sheet music below. In the meantime, here are some lessons for listening (mp3)...

For the musicians out there!
